3 - Blue Basket

I have two photos of this square. One to show the join in the yarn. The second to show the finished square. I called this square Blue Basket as the knit and purl stitches look like a basket weave to me. Not so sure in the photo though.

Here I am

I don't have any excuses on why I haven't been here. Or why I haven't been doing squares. All I can do is post the promised photo of sunshine and get back to my squares.
I've added some more yarn to my tub and there are more squares to showcase.

I'm currently on holiday in New Zealand. I have bought some yarn for my stash. I will return to my squares when I get home.

1 - Rainbow Paddlepop

This square reminds me of a rainbow paddlepop. If only it tasted that good.
After some trial and error I discovered that 22 stitches on my number 8 needles gave me 12 cm to a row. The rainbow yarn is one of the bigger balls in my blanket stash so no doubt there will be more variations on this. Any ideas? I was thinking some stripes, maybe with some yellow yarn.
In case anyone is interested it is an acrylic. Nothing fancy about it.

100 Blanket Squares

I am a supporter of Doggie Rescue and read in their latest newsletter that theywould like 12 cm x 12 cm knitted squares which will be turned into blankets. Following in the footsteps of 365 Knitted Hats I have set myself the goal of knitting 100 Blanket Squares. My abosulte goal is one year which would be 8 April 2011 but I hope to finish earlier.
I grabbed a plastic tub, six part-used balls of yarn from my stash and a pair of size 8 knitting needles. Once a yarn is finished I will choose a replacement yarn from my stash. The Cleckheaton ball band was tucked inside the blue yarn.

I am happy for people to make colour and stitch pattern suggestions.
